Leaders of The New School

That Jan. 20, 2009 was a snow day (and, thusly, an day off) will be lost on Max and Marco. But they'll never forget that on this day, Barack Obama took the oath to be the 44th President of the United States. While we weren’t in DC with the 2-million-plus people in the frigid temperatures, we (and Uncle Coop and Amir, left) were there in spirit, watching every minute of the festivities. When asked why he thinks everyone was so overjoyed, Max, quite prophetically, said: “Because there’s never been a Brown president before. Brown people were so low on the food chain, and look who’s president now. Brown people were slaves back then; now look at Brown people today. They feel like this was never gonna happen … but I knew Barack Obama would win the race, though--he was so far ahead, like the Mario Kart Wii game.”
